Geography (B.Sc.)

Three-year bachelor study programme provides complex geographical background, the core of which does not focus on memorising descriptive toponymy, but aims to provide understanding of the functional principles of our society and of our environment. The acquired knowledge and skills include map making in GIS applications, data and information processing and their critical assessment, all of which can be applied in a range of professions. Current geography deals with a broad spectrum of urgent issues, such as:

Environmental issues

Human society

The advantage of this study programme is its stable and long-term accreditation and the possibility to continue advancing the geographical knowledge and skills in follow-up master and doctoral degrees:

Geography (B.Sc.) → Geography and Regional Development (M.Sc.) → Regional Geography (Ph.D.).

In the structure and organisation of the study programme we respect the current trends of a broader and more general topics at the bachelor level, with possible specialisation in selected topics in the master and doctoral levels of study.

The study programme Geography provides the broadest possible scope of study, in its bachelor level including the natural (environmental) and social science topics. This allows to continue into the master level not only by choosing Geography and Regional Development, but also to study particular component or similar disciplines either at the Faculty of Science (development and environmental studies, geoinformatics, environmental geology) or at other faculties (sociology, economy, tourism etc.).

Studium v programu Geografie na naší katedře přináší i další výhody:
